The area of Creative Technology encompasses a wide field,
ranging from the domain of software development to the domain of artistic expression,
from graphics (visual) to audio/music (acoustic).
As a technical area, it includes many engineering technologies:
visual and acoustic processing, analogue and digital processing,
software development, sensors, networking, collaboration, interaction.
As an artistic area, it covers tools for the creation of artworks (graphics, music)
as well as the works themselves and the ways of interaction
with and engaging the audience.
Creative Technology bridges the gap between artistic creativity and technology.
This centre focuses specifically on the following activities:
- To develop novel technologies in the realm of creative technology.
- To improve the creative process so as to provide a more direct transformation
of the artists' intention into visual and/or acoustic artefacts.
- To develop novel ways of interaction between artist and computer,
hereby enabling the creation of works that were not possible before.
- To facilitate collaboration between artists, musicians, with technologists.
- To bridge the gap between art (music) and technology.
- To get involved in partnerships with industry and professional artist / music community.
- To bridge the boundary between disciplines which can benefit from
creative technology advancements.
- To create innovative works of art and music.
We are actively seeking interdisciplinary collaborations with
external partners, for joint projects in research, development, and performance.
